The name “Ballroom Dancing” cames from the latin “ballare” which means, dancing. But in the 15th Century dancing in pairs became an entertainment. After becoming popular in the Italian courts, its popularity soon danced its way into France and England. 1776 was to become an important date in the history of ballroom dancing because it marked the exhibition of the first waltz in Vienna. After remaining a closely guarded secret in European high society, ballroom dancing was introduced to the rest of the population at the beginning of the 20th Century. This kind of dancing stimulates mental and physical coordination and can help develop a good posture for participants of any age.
