With a conservative estimate of 10%, São Brás de Alportel has the largest immigrant population in the Algarve. This position reflects positively on the many attractive merits of São Brás but also gives rise to a significant problem for the Câmara; that of IMMIGRANT INTEGRATION. Not just legal integration but also cultural, religious, education and social.

In response to this challenge and in cooperation with the government´s National Immigration Services, the Câmara of São Brás has established a “Centre for Immigrant Integration”.

This organisation has been established with the specific aim of assisting the many foreign nationals who settle here in São Brás to better understand and integrate into, national, regional and local cultures.

This will be real opportunity for you to understand them and their purpose and objectives and to participate in a Q&A session where you will be able to table questions, and hopefully receive answers, that are pertinent to your personal situation.

Also, whether you are a permanent resident here or you simple split your time between the Algarve and your home country, you will be able to provide feedback concerning your own experiences and the issues that you found troublesome or otherwise which will be invaluable in shaping future direction.

In order to provide impetus for the evening a program has been established which will, hopefully, provide a framework for information exchange but, on the ground that you only get out what you put in, we would ask you to participate fully in what we hope will be the first of a series of information exchange sessions with local representatives.
