These were the comments of many of the regular participants and visitors to the 8th annual Arte Viva festival run by Amigos do Museu and held in the museum grounds in São Brás de Alportel. Well over 1000 visitors enjoyed, art, live music and an international “street of food” at this year’s two day event which included local bands Nanook, Jazztaparte, Tinto Beat and Mare Nostrum on stage intermixed with exciting and varied street entertainment from Art Satori. Founder and main organiser Cliff Newton commented that he felt this year the improved balance between Art, Music and Gastronomy had given the event a real and unique identity, as had the introduction of a children’s theme, Arte Viva Juvenile, an art competition with prizes for young, budding artists and a special prize for the school with the most prize winners, designed to increase the involvement of local school children and their families. “I think we have formed the base now to go on and deliver something really special in the coming years. There are still areas we can improve on but we now have the structure right. It’s a lot of hard work and requires the commitment of a number of dedicated volunteers without whose efforts this event would not be possible but it’s definitely worth it” Click on the tabs below to view a selection of photographs from the event:- |
