Arte Viva is a summer weekend spectacular event of LIVE ART in all its forms taking place from 18:00 – 24:00 on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July 2009. The aim of this annual event is to blend the work of multinational creative artists, some of whom will be working live in different media, with other examples of live art in the form of music, theatre, fashion, and street-artists including jugglers, clowns and fire-eaters, to culminate in a vibrant international festival of live entertainment, unique in the Algarve. Once again the youth of the São Brás schools who have taken part in the art competition “Concurso Juvenil de Arte e Literatura” entitled Lendas e Tradições, will have their work on display during the weekend. Their works of art form an integral part of the festival. Visiting children will also have the opportunity to practice their talents, under supervision, in a “kids-corner” with all kinds of creative activities to keep them happy. Providing spectacular live music on Saturday evening will be the bands, Tuka Moura, a mix of Brazilian and African beats and The Boulevard Monkeys, playing fab sounds of the sixties and seventies, whilst on Sunday, the world music of Inês Machado and her trio will open the evening, followed by, Vá de Viró, with the famous local group, Veredas da Memória, closing the festival. Music to suit every taste. International food, snacks and drinks will be available. Entrance fee at the gate: €4 and children up to 12 years free. Parking at the side of the Museum and the surrounding streets. Click on the tabs below to view a selection of photographs from last year's event |
