 Ben Helmink was born in Brummen, The Netherlands, studied Art and Arthistory on the Rietveldacademy in Amsterdam. Worked as teacher on the Elementaryschool in Amsterdam. In 2006 decided to live in Portugal as professional artist in Santana da Serra.
Works a lot with sandstructure in acryl and oil. The themes vary from portraits and people in their daily circumstances to still life and historythemes inspirated by the classic art. His atelier Monte das Moradias in the Soutern-Alentejo is near the Santa Clara lake where he is inspired by the light, nature and culture of the region and shortly participate in the Artgroup ´Ártists Mundial´
