Liz Allen

Liz Allen studied painting at Croydon College of Art and Design and Bath Academy of Art 1976-79, obtaining a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting.

After a 15 years working for the Arts Council and South Bank Centre, London, she moved to Brighton where she exhibited work every May during the Brighton Festival, between 1995-2004.

In 2005, Liz moved to the Monchique area, and her current paintings are mainly of the Algarve landscape and scenery, from rural landscape to town scenes. Most of her paintings start with a cartoon like drawing; a direct and spontaneous response to being in a place. Colour and pattern are the most important elements in her paintings, along with humour and a sense of the absurd.
