Photography has been a hobby of mine since my parents gave me an Agfa Clack at a very young age. I found it magical. Before digital photography, I loved experimenting with black and white photography, developing the photographs myself.
I try to bring an element of surprise to my photos. My intention is that the viewer needs a second look, to make sure that what he or she is seeing is really what is there.
The photos I selected for the exhibition in the museum gallery are no different. This series was taken during a stressful period in my life. As an antidote, I walked in the forest around Arnhem, the Netherlands (where I lived at the time) for at least two hours every day for several months. These walks were very healing for me and the photographs are a testimony of this “spiritual journey”.
