Maureen pursued her love of music and singing for many years, playing leading roles in amateur operatic productions and in grand opera concerts.
It was only in 2003 when, having retired from teaching, she began to spend more time in Portugal and, inspired by the wonderful light here, realized her long-held desire to paint. She joined the art group led by Annie Daenens and has since shown her work in several exhibitions particularly in her hometown in Scotland and in Lagos, Portugal.
She enjoys painting in watercolors but her preference is for oils where she works in fine detail and enjoys the flexibility offered by this medium. |
