Restless Natives (1985) is a low-budget comedy film directed by Michael Hoffman and starring Vincent Friell, Joe Mullaney, and Ned Beatty. Teachers´Art Exhibition Inauguration: Festival Of The Arts (Monday 2nd June)
What teachers do when they are not teaching, was the idea behind the first exhibition of work by a group of teachers. It was organised by the Group of the Schools of the Parish of São Brás which has its main office at the school E.B.2,3 Poeta Bernardo de Passos in collaboration with the Museu do Trajo and the Amigos do Museu. Other schools in the Algarve have also participated in this initiative of artistic expression; Escola Secundária José Belchior Viegas in São Brás, Escola Secondária Tomás Cabreira and E.B. 2,3 Dr. Joaquim Magalhães both in Faro as well as a Escola Dr. Francisco Cabrita de Montechoro -Albufeira and the International School of Vilamoura.
This Festival of Arts is an annual activity that was begun five years ago by Escola E.B. 2,3 Poeta Bernardo de Passos and its objective is to show the different talents, activities and interests developed by the teachers alongside their normal didactic practices. Every year a different theme is chosen and this school year 2007/2008 the theme is Water.
The inauguration of this collective exhibition of teachers’ work, will take place on Monday 2nd June, 2008 at 18.00 in the New Gallery of the Museu do Trajo de São Brás de Alportel.
Duo VIOLINOACORDEÃO (Saturday 7th June)
The Duo "VioliNOacordeão", João Pedro Cunha and Gonçalo Pescada, give concerts which aim to create a relaxed ambiance between the artists and the audience due to their proximity but at the same time maintaining the formal atmosphere of erudite classical music concerts.
With an eclectic and varied repertoire lasting approximately 80 minutes, the exotic fusion of the two instruments, violin and accordion, results in a fascinating show for both the experienced and the lay spectator.
The formation of this Duo was the natural result of mutual identification and sharing of musical ideas by these two young musicians.
After their first performance in Lagos in 1997, they quickly conquered Algarve audiences, gradually extending their venues to other cities in Portugal. They have left their mark on the national panorama as well as abroad. Their first international performance took place in 2003, in the United Kingdom and was an enormous success. This was repeated during the prestigious Festival dos Capuchos in Spain. From original works written for this type of formation to their own arrangements, the programme also includes composers of Sacred music whose works are accessible to the general public.
Future projects include original works especially requisitioned from various composers, one of which has already been finished and is called "Adeus", dedicated to Duo VioliNOacordeão by Adriano St. Aubyn.

German Film Club: Sommer vorm Balkon, (International title: Summer in Berlin) - in German with Portuguese sub-titles. Directed by Andreas Dresen (Germany, 2004/5).
A charming and stimulating study of two women hitting a midlife crisis in modern-day East Berlin. It manages to be about a lot of other things too - friendships between woman and woman, relationships between men and women, what women really want from men (and vice versa), and about the unpleasant discoveries of adolescence - and it never sugars the pill. If that makes it sound grim, it isn't - it's funny and original, and beautifully acted, and sexy too, and makes you feel the Germans might have a sense of humour - albeit a dark and slightly gritty one - after all.

Needles & Crafts Group: Garden Tea Party
We will get together with our usual needlework at the normal time of 14:30. But, to mark the end of another very successful and creative year of sewing and crafting at the Museum, an Afternoon High-Tea will be served in the garden at 16:00. I would like you to invite family and friends to join us for this occasion, so we can all celebrate the wonderful work that has been made by all of you as well as the many hours of fun that we had together as a group.
In order to minimise the costs and share the preparations for this garden party, I would be grateful if you could assist and bring along a small culinary contribution (cake – cookies – sandwiches – savouries - fruit or other). And, appropriately - to say thank you on behalf of us all - I will ensure that we can also raise a glass of bubbly for this “grand finale” with the Museum’s committee members.
Cost: 4€ (Friends 2 €)
