Concert: Projecto Axaraz - POSTPONED
We regret to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances the concert by AXARAZ tomorrow Saturday 13 at 20:30h has to be postponed. We apologise for any inconvenience caused but look forward to arranging a new date in the near future.
“Axaraz” is an invented word, with the same sound as the Portuguese word “acharás”, which means to find, or to discover, in the future form. This musical project, with roots in the landscapes and stories of the south of Portugal, is a soundtrack to a story that links all the songs, a story that wants to reach you - each person, each group, each world...
"Axaraz” was born from the will of Nuno Felipe Rodrigues, composer, lyricist and performer, with the help of the beautiful voices of Carla Pontes, Ana Messias and also Sintia Duarte, as a special guest.
Axaraz is growing slowly, peacefully, and it is also open to the help of other persons. All together, we will “find” a special world, a world that will bring us happiness…
They will sing and play piano, using different voice combinations both with and without piano accompaniment. Click on the buttons below to hear some examples of their sounds:-

Jazz Club: Sávio Araújo Quartet
This quartet explores music in such a way as to create profound, dynamic atmospheres inspired by musicians such as, Coltrane, Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman, Jan Garbarak and others who concentrate on free music.
The Brazilian Sávio Araújo, leader of the quartet, has played together with many Portuguese jazz names such as Andre Sarbib, Miguel Braga, Mário Barreiros, Bernardo Sasseti and Paulo Gomes, others. Sávio is a reference to Sax Jazz in Portugal. The base player, Marco Martins, joined this group in 2007 contributing with his groovy, harmonious rhythm and melody where equilibrium encounters sound. The drummer, Marcelo Araujo, establishes the necessary harmony so that the sax can always create new, musical situations and the versatile accordion of João Frade completes the journey into experimental world jazz.
There will be Live-Art and an exhibition of jazz-paintings by the artist Elza Newton during the concert.
