Piano Concert: Around the 20's of the 20th - Ragtime and More! with Lutz Kettnaker (Saturday 3rd May)
Lovers of piano and jazz will not want to miss the Lutz Kettnaker “Ragtime” piano concert on Saturday, 3rd May. He will be playing a varied programme including music by Billy Mayerl, Irving Berlin, Erroll Garner, Count Basie, Scott Joplin and others, all in his very own style.
Lutz Kettnaker had his first piano lesson in Stuttgart at the early age of four and by the time he was 14 years old, he had started his own jazz band, “Battle Mount Seven”. He studied conducting and sound engineering in Berlin and later qualified as a piano teacher there at the Academy of Fine Arts. He then taught for many years at the music school in Charlottenburg.
In Portugal since 1990, he has accompanied well known singers such as Sylle Vie C, Gabrielle van der Linden (jazz), Birgit Wegemann (classic) and Gisela Reuter (cabaret). In Lisbon he played in the Tagus Jazz Group and in the Algarve he plays in the group Crossroads.

Film Club: Gregory´s Girl (Monday 5th May)
Gregory´s Girl is a coming-of-age film written and directed by Bill Forsyth. Like many of Forsyth's movies, it is set in his native Scotland and is notable for its slight touches of magic realism.
The film is set in and around a state secondary school in the Abronhill district of Cumbernauld. It features John Gordon Sinclair, Dee Hepburn, Clare Grogan, among others. Grogan's role helped promote her career, as she was in the band Altered Images at the time of film's release. Veteran comedian Chic Murray plays the school's laconic headmaster.
Gregory's Girl was ranked 30th in the British Film Institute's list of the top 100 British films and 29th on Entertainment Weekly's list of the 50 best high school movies.

Jazz @ The Museum: Be & Bop (Sunday 18th May)
A Duo of pure jazz. Two veterans of National Jazz, Manuela Lopes and Zé Eduardo, playing together in an unusual combination of contrabass and voice!
This is an exceptional project where some of the old jazz standards are revisited as well as themes from the great masters of Bebop, arranged in an uncomplicated mixture combining the language of the Portuguese National Poet, Camões and the music of 52nd Street!
Surely an interesting challenge to both interpreters and listeners and a Concert with unique characteristics.
Be & Bop is out on the streets and between the angular lines of Bebop melodies, lies the history of each and every one of us walking the streets of life.
As usual, there will be a Jam session after the concert.

Good Vibes - The Universal Rhythm of the Vibraphone (Saturday 31st May)
The group Good Vibes presents a unique combination of musical and visual elements. Duncan Kinnell, unique master of the Vibraphone, and lead musician of the group, plays an instrument which is little known to Portuguese audiences. The group combine a wide range of eclectic, traditional styles of music from Latin and Swing to Modern Jazz. This mixture gives birth to original compositions, arrangements and improvisations.
Together, the four members of the group form a combination of experiences in traditional music from all over the American continent. The starting point of their highly entertaining concerts is the rhythm and soul inherent in Afro-American music.
The artists are: Duncan Kinnell on Vibraphone, German Heike Brockmann on Guitar, North-American David Gausden on Contrabass and Clive Pracy on Drums. A group full of vitality and rhythm in the spirit that each one of these styles demands.
