Jazz @ The Museum "Double Bill"!

Attention all jazz lovers!

There will be another “double bill” this month. One session on Sunday 3 May and another on Sunday 17 May, both starting at the usual time of 17:00 and ending with a jam-session. There will be no entry fee for musicians definitely participating in the jam-sessions so come along all you budding musicians, grab this offer and give it a go.

On the first Sunday, 3 May, the Desidério Lazaro Quartet will be playing for you. Besides Desidério himself on tenor and soprano sax, we have: João Firmino on guitar; João Custódio on contrabass; and Joel Silva on drums.

Desidério is a new Portuguese jazz talent trained at the Amsterdam Music Academy where this quartet was formed. The group are currently doing a tour of Europe, promoting their new CD, so of course they just had to appear herein São Brás. Their versatile repertoire shows influences of Joshua Redman, Branford Marsalis and Wayne Shorter.

On the third Sunday, 17 May, we will be welcoming Special Quartet, from Badajoz, Spain. Very popular in their own country at the moment, this quartet plays a fusion of jazz, rock and funk. Players are: Javier Alcantara on guitar; Narciso Gonzalez on sax; Pablo Romero on Hammond; and Pepin Muñoz on drums.

Their latest CD “Namouche” was recorded in a Lisbon studio in conjunction with top musicians such as Perico Sambeat, Hugo Alves and Alexis Cuadrado.
