Jazz Club @ The Museum:
The Jazz -Clube do Museu de São Brás will start the new season with a very special concert in the Old Gallery, on Sunday, 17 October, commencing at 17:00 as usual and with a jam-session to follow at 19:00.
Playing for us will be an international quartet of Spanish musicians who form Monk's Experience - a band born with the intention of making a repertoire of themes by Thelonius Monk. All four musicians have a big passion for the very special musical language of Monk.
The band comprises:
- Antonio Olivo, from Huelva, who is one of two saxophonists in the band. He has played in different formations in both Spain and New York, and is now studying at the Conservatório Superior de Valência.
- Valêncian-born Javier Orti plays tenor and soprano sax, and has wide experience in orchestras all over Europe. He is now teaching in the Conservatório de Seville.
- On double bass we have Javier Delgado, from Seville. He comes from the classical music scene, and has completed several jazz studies with famous teachers.
- At 36, the oldest member of the quartet is Nacho Megina, who also hails from Seville. A drummer with a wide range of experience, he is now teaching latin, flamenco, swing and afro rhythms at the Seville Conservatory.
