Gonçalo Pescada (accordionist)

Gonçalo Pescada began his musical studies in the Algarve, that later continued in the Musical Institute Matono (Lisbon) with Professor José António Sousa and in the Superior School of Applied Arts (Castelo Branco) with Professor Paulo Jorge Ferreira, where concluded the University Degree in 2004 receiving a merit distinction (best pupil) for his high school performance.

In the school year 2004/2005 has made Post-graduation studies in France (CNIMA), under the pedagogical orientation of Jacques Mornet. Has participated in Instrumental Perfectioning Courses directed by professors of international reputation such as Peter Soave, V. Semyonov, Friedrich Lips and V. Zubitsky.

Carried through, until the present date, quite a lot solo Accordion recitals and innumerable concerts with the different chamber music groups that has integrated, in several points of Portugal as well as in the foreigner. Has made a soloist performance with the Algarve Orchestra, OrchestrUtopica, ESART Ensemble, Cascais and Oeiras Chamber Orchestra and Filarmonia das Beiras Orchestra, and worked with the Maestros João Tiago Santos, Osvaldo Ferreira, Cesário Costa, Francisco Rodilla León, Nikolay Lalov, António Saiote and Luís Machado.

Among others, received the 1st Prize in the National Accordion Competition (Alcobaça, 1995), 3rd Prize in the Young Musicians' Revelation Competition (Oporto, 2004), 1st Prize in the International Competition "Citá di Montese" (Italy, 2004) and 1st Prize in the Estoril Performance Competition (2006).

In 2002 he released the solo CD "Intuition", with a repertoire of classic music, jazz and world music.
