
Born in Faro in 1973, Mr. Brazão started to study music at the age of five, at the regional conservatory of Algarve – Maria Campina. There he finished a basic course on the flute, and went on to study this same instrument on an advanced course. He studied the flute with professors Alberto Pimentel, Vasco Gouveia, Joaquim Galvão e Bruno Villani. He succeeded at the exams on music theory and flute at the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. In 1994 he became a member of the Traditional Portuguese Music Group of the Regional Conservatory of Algarve – “Vá-de-Viró”, where he participated on several shows and in the recording of an album.
Mr. Brazão is a teacher of music, licensed by the Superior School of Education at Beja. He teaches at middle-schools since 1995 and, more recently, also in kindergarten. He continued to work on traditional music with the group Urze e Zurze, between 1997 and 2000. He was part of the urban popular music project Trovadores da Lua Nova (New Moon Troubadours) between September 2002 and December 2003, as a singer and flutist. He was the director of the EB School children’s choir, in Faro, between April 2002 and June 2005. He is the co-founder and organizer of the project MúsicAbrincar since 2005. His activity in the world of Choir music started in September 1994, when he entered the choir “Ossonoba”. He started off as a choir member (bass) and flutist, and later began to lead the rehearsals of the range. In October 2000 he joined the Choir Ideias do Levante, under the direction of Maestro José Carlos Bago d’Uva, and participated in various concerts as choir member and flutist. He took over his position in November 2003. Since then he has frequented various courses with such masters of singing, choir direction and pedagogy as Armando Possante, Arthur Pinho, Cara Tasher, Edwin Gordon, Eugene Rogers, Jos Wuytack, Owen Rees, Paulo Lourenço e Peter Phillips, among others. He studied singing with Birgit Wegemann for five years and is presently a student of Ana Ester Neves, at the Superior School of Applied Arts in Castelo Branco (Portugal).
