AgendaHighlightsKlassiek Concert (zondag 6)Irene Ainstein (piano) and Birgit Wegemann (soprano) will be presenting a selection of songs by Richard Wagner (Wesendonk-Lieder), Johannes Brahms (Drei Lieder) and Gustav Wagner (Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen) in concert at the Museum do Trajo in São Brás, on Sunday 6th April. Irene and Birgit have both performed at The Museum previously, with other musicians, and last appeared there together, along with Armando Possante, in "Bravo Mozart" at the beginning of 2007. In the case of many of the works on show, they are both useful and beautiful. Concert: Simply Acoustic plus One (zaterdag 12)Two of the three musicians - Graham Cooper and Daryl Bye - play together as a duo called Simply Acoustic performing an enormously wide range of music. They are joined by Dave Hughes who was recently half of the wonderful folk duo Sad Pig, who created a bg reputation on the UK folk scene. Graham is already well known here as well as in the UK and the rest of Europe as a skilled and relaxed performer of his own songs, those co-written with Harvey Andrews and by other other composers ranging from "Trad. Anon" to Duke Ellington. Sheffield-born Daryl Bye frequently plays with Graham on the local music scene, but is an excellent guitarist in his own right, specialising in blues and in the pop music ‘from the days of our youth’. He gained a wealth of experience in the Yorkshire area, playing guitar, bass and singing with a variety of different groups. Since teaming up with Graham, he has developed his fine acoustic guitar playing and harmony singing, to make Simply Acoustic such a pleasurable experience. He and Graham also combine to provide a driving back line section for the New Orleans Jazz Band. Dave Hughes, from the North West of England, is a well-known and respected figure on the folk music circuit in England, singing and playing an assortment of guitars. He is an exponent of tasteful contemporary acoustic song, and is ever entertaining. Dave, Graham and Daryl will combine at stages throughout the evening, to create a big sound, full of harmonies and great lyrics, rich in variety and bursting with talent and good humour. Voorverkoop kaartjes 7 € (Vrienden 5 €) zaterdag 12, 20.30 uur Jazz Concert: Biel Ballester Trio (zondag 13)The Biel Ballester Trio is an ensemble which plays a jazz style with deep European roots, the so-called "Jazz manouche" (or Gypsy Jazz) . This style started with the great French guitarist DJANGO REINHARDT(1910-1953), who mixed traditional gypsy songs and Parisian bal-mussette with the new coming American jazz, the improvisation freedom of which fitted perfectly with Django´s spirit. Django achieved wide international success due to the formation of the "Quintette du Hot Club de France" with violinist Stephane Grapelli; a group based entirely on string instruments, and which was probably the only non-American ensemble that influenced American players. The Biel Ballester Trio attempts to keep the style in its modern state and also add its own creativity by composing their own songs in ways which have a lot to do with their Mediterranean roots. The group - two guitars and double bass - play not only jazz standards, but also incorporate new elements from the gypsy rhythms of rhumbas, boleros and also bossanovas. Biel Ballester (guitar) is joined by Graci Pedro (rhythm guitar) and Leandro Hipaucha (double bass). Jazz @ The Museum: Yatra - The Musical Journey of a Creative Organism (zondag 20)Yatra betekent "reis" in de Indiase taal. Een reis door de verschillende landen waar deze musici vandaan komen (Spanje ,Portugal, Italie, Balkan) en langs de diverse muziekstijlen zoals :Flamengo , Zigeunermuziek vemengd met Indiase invloeden en Jazz. De leden van de band zijn Caramela Páez Leal “La Chocolata” (zang); Raimund Engelhardt (Zimbal / Tabla); Francesco Valente (Accoustic Bass); Johannes Krieger (bazuin) en David Monge (gitarr).
