ARTE VIVA 2008 A WEEKEND OF LIVE ART AND ENTERTAINMENT SATURDAY JULY 12 and SUNDAY JULY 13 FROM: 18.00h until 24.00h. ATTRACTIONS FOR EVERYONE WHATEVER THEIR AGE OR INTERESTS The aim of this annual event is to blend multinational creative artists working live in different media with other examples of live art in the form of music, dance, fashion, jugglers and fire-eaters, clowns, drumming and much more, performed by international artists, to culminate in a vibrating international festival of live entertainment, unique in the Algarve. Children will also have the opportunity to practice their talents, under supervision, in a “kid’s corner” with painting, face painting, balloon sculpting and other spontaneous creative pastimes. Especially honoured will be the children of the São Brás schools who have taken part in the Arte Viva Juvenil art competition. Their works of art form an integral part of the festival and will be judged by a jury of the international artists present. The prize giving will take place on Sunday evening at 20.30h and prizes will be presented by the Algarve representative of the Ministry of Culture, Eng. Gonçalo Couceiro, who has a profound interest in bringing art and culture into schools and the local community. The bands Nanook and Jazztaparta will provide swinging live music on Saturday, whilst on Sunday, the Line Dance formation, Faz Fato, will open the musical interlude followed by the Brazilian rhythms of Tinto Beat. The World Music of the famous Mare Nostrum will close the show. International snacks and beverages will be available all through the festival. Entrance fee at the gate:€ 4,00, children free.
