CONCERT OF BAROQUE AND CLASSICAL MUSIC -------------------------------------- On Saturday, July 5th, at 21:30, there will be a concert of Renaissance, Baroque and Classical Music in São Brás Church, performed by the Loulé City Recorder Ensemble, the Amigos do Museu Choir and Canticorum, promoted by the Amigos do Museu de S. Brás (Friends of São Brás Museum) and supported by the S. Brás Câmara. The choir will be performing works by Bach, Purcell, Buxtehude, and Mendelssohn, as well as some modern Portuguese Music. The Recorder Ensemble will perform pieces in a variety of styles, ranging from Bach, through Classical and Modern works, to Scott Joplin Ragtime - demonstrating the broad repertoire of this often-deprecated instrument. The Choir was founded in 2006, and is made up of 35 men and women from many countries. It has performed at various venues in the Algarve, under the leadership of Walter Sulzer, who has directed choirs in various European countries. The Loulé Recorder Ensemble is made up of students of the Loulé City Music School, and was founded in 1994 by Professor Francisco Rosado. It has performed in numerous music festivals, and its performers regularly take part in master-classes by distinguished international maestros. To date it has recorded two CDs with music from the Middle Ages to the Twentieth Century, and has achieved international recognition in magazine articles in the British and American musical press.
